Adventures with Laurel

You've heard me mention before that Laurel is a busy girl and her antics keep us on our toes. She is full of surprises, which we sometimes don't love, but we sure love her. The other day we were swimming at a friend's pool. Laurel always wears floaties on her arms. At one point, she got out and took them off, handing them to me. I assumed she was getting out for a while, since she's done that before. I went back to visiting. Thankfully, Samantha was sitting on the corner step watching everyone play in the water. Apparently Laurel jumped right back in, thinking she could swim all of a sudden. She couldn't though and Sammie noticed her flailing her arms. She said, "Laurel's swimming without her floaties!" Derek was nearby, but hadn't been looking in that direction. He was able to help her quickly. Thankfully, Laurel hasn't tried that again!

Laurel seems to have a love/hate relationship with clothes. She likes to change her outfit 2 or 3 times a day, or wear pajamas to naptime. Sometimes she puts two or three layers of clothing on (on a hot day usually), or she is stripping everything off (including diaper). One day some of us were sitting in the living room, and Laurel came walking down the hallway in her birthday suit, with some new clothes hanging over her arm (reminding us of a butler) . She was walking as though it was perfectly normal to be naked in a public area. We couldn't help but laugh.

Laurel is sure fun to have around. Here are some pictures of Laurel this summer

Laurel dressed herself in pink clothes, put pink tights on her head and said to me, "I'm a rabbit"

She loves to take her car seat straps off

Pausing during a hike

Trying to warm up after a swim

Calmly waiting for church to start

Playing with Katelyn. Laurel still loves to hold her, even though she's getting too big for her to handle.

Sweet Laurel. She rarely let's us put things in her hair, but when she does it doesn't last long!
